The local meat shop in Riggins Idaho is looking for a good butcher. Lots of good hunting and fishing here and lots of great people. Just sayin.

Well there’s a little more to being a good butcher than that. They already have two guys there with sharp knives. A positive attitude is a plus too. They don’t have that there right now. By “good butcher” I kinda meant someone with experience cutting meat. 🤷‍♂️

So the two there must have negative attitudes if they don't have that there now.

Yep. One has been there for two years and he is really bossy and not a real good butcher. The owner’s son taught him how to cut meat. They hired someone to help him and he’s acting just like the one that was already there. The owner and his son are excellent butchers but they’re busy with other things and just want one good butcher instead of a grump teaching someone to be just like him. The owners are awesome people and have had the meat shop for over 30 years. Do you know someone looking to relocate who is a good butcher?

Nope. Just need one good one to replace two that refuse to do much. The owners son did it all by himself for several years. It’s not a high volume operation.

If I lived in Riggins, I would be interested! I used to live in Caldwell, ID for 18 months back in 2015 - 2017. I loved fishing the Salmon River and The Little Salmon River for Steelhead and Bull Trout. Good times. Not to mention the Smallmouth fishing there. Awesome!!!

Riggins is awesome. It’s catch and release now for bull trout and we’re not supposed to target them any more but there’s lots of them in the little salmon. Nice one too too. I’ve landed several over 5 pounds and good fighters too.

Yeah, When I fished the Salmon and Little Salmon back then, they were illegal to keep. They are fun to catch them big ones though! (Accidently) LOL!

Don't know how busy the son is with 'other things', but it sounds like dad should take some of the son's duties (?) and have him go back to butchering for the short term until they find someone suitable, rather that waste their money paying those two 'know-nothing/do-nothing dolts who
may be giving their family business a bad name due to their inabilities and/or bad attitudes !
Just sayin' !

They’re right in the middle of hunting season and the son owns an outfitting business as well as guide hunters on his Dad’s ranch. They actually interviewed a butcher today. I hope they hire him. I was down there helping my wife yesterday and the current butcher worked about two hours and left. Said he had to go get his mother a birthday present. While he was gone 3 elk, a big horn sheep and 4 deer came in. I quartered the elk and hung them in the cooler as well as cleaned and hung all the other animals. They would have lost all that business had I not been there to take care of it. The butcher came back about closing time and got all grouchy with me about taking the animals in. He said he already had too much work to do in the cooler. I told him to just go back home and watch a movie or something and said if he’d put in more than a couple hours a day he’d get a lot more done. He don’t know they’re looking for a butcher and I came real close to spilling the beans but I didn’t. He said they won’t fire him because he’s the only butcher they have. He said “I’ll come and go as I please. They can’t get rid of me or they’ll be screwed. I’m the only butcher they have so they’re just gonna have to deal with it”. They’ve asked me to do it but I’m not looking for a full time job at 65. I’ve done it before and could cut circles around the jerk they have. Just can’t see that as a retirement plan any more. I DO work there now. Not cutting meat but pretty much everything else the butcher refuses to do now. They hired him as a general ranch hand a little over two years ago. Now he refuses to do anything but cut meat and only what he wants to do when he wants to do it. He’s real close to pounding sand and it’s time.

Don't know your (or your boss's) boot size, but I hope someone with a very LARGE boot size leaves a good impression in the seat of his pants when he's finally fired and tossed out the door !
He's got it coming, AND THEN SOME !
