I have been reading a bit about changing treble hooks on crankbaits to single siwash hooks. Has anyone on here tried that? If so what kind of results have you had? I fish mainly for walleye and lm bass occasionally.

I do it for salt water angling just to get bluefish off more quickly. Haven't noticed any reduction in hook up rate.

Hoss: Check back within the past week on Stages. There was a discusssion recently about this subject. I personally have not experimented with a change. The theory behind one guy's swithch was the trebble hook allowed the fish in some way to get leverage on the hook and thus be able to throw it. Just Sayin...RJS

FT,here are 2 brands and model numbers of hooks that are designed for this purpose. The eye is inline with the hook so will ride straight up or down (however you prefer) on the split ring. I have only tried them on saltwater plugs but am considering trying some on freshwater lures. The first is a VMC, available in #6-4/0. The second is an OWNER available in #6-2/0.

Thank you all for the info. I'm going to change a few crankbaits and will try them out. If I get a feel for how they work I will let you know.
