Larry Bird one of the last great white man basketball players

Larry Bird, for people who are interested, starred at Indiana State and lived in French Lick, Ind. He played against Magic Johnson in the NCAA tournament. He played professionally with the Boston Celtics. You can Google his bio for college and the pros. Pretty impressive stuff.

If you haven't been watching Luka Doncic, Dallas Mavericks...keep an eye on him. Barring career-ending injuries, he will be an all-time great. Many of the top anglo players are European, as (IMO) they aren't in the mindset of being intimidated or in awe of Afro-American players.

Luka is tough. And only 20. A superstar in the making.

Spirit is a wise ass. He has not spent his life living with a bucket on his head. Do you really think that a wise ass from Indiana who's 72 years old doesn't know who Larry Bird is? Larry and I used to play Horse in my driveway. Who you think taught him that behind the backboard shot?

Well, that was a feigned '' emoticon. Your being from Indiana, I knew you had to be bull-chiting.

I guess I missed it. Wouldn't be the first time. Next time I'll know better.

If you have a heart beat and you are from Indiana and you don't know who Larry Bird is, you will be driven to the Michigan state line and you can go eat dinner with MJ - and I don't mean the "goat", although in my opinion, he just might have been. As great as he was, do you think Jordan could have filled in at center for Cartwright had he not been able to play? Much less fill in for Kareem in game 6 of a championship series? Against Dr. J and Chocolate Thunder? As a rookie point guard? And score 42 points in that game? And win the championship? Well, do ya punk?

Ah, the 80s and 90s - the golden age of basketball.

Aaah, discussions on the GOAT has been a point of contention for as long as I can remember. I say there's several that are in the conversation. But, I simply enjoyed all of 'em for what they contributed at the times/era they played.

I'm with ya. The goat what? Team? I nominate the 92 US men's basketball team. Arguably and probably the greatest collection of talent on one team of any sport, any where, any time. They picked one college player - Christian Laettner (who?) from Duke. NC fans know for sure who CL was and is. They still hate him. They could have picked Shaq. What? Yup. Check it out. Any way, they beat their opponents by an average of 44 points, won the gold for the US and managed to do that without calling a time out.

Welcome to the stage Whitebass. Looks like your self introduction has done been hijacked by a bunch of basketball freaks. Well, either tell us to knock it off or join the conversation. This is just how we are most of the time. Conversations can often take some strange turns. Did I say we love photos? We do, of whitebass or white players or whatever you care to share.

You live due south of Michigan City. That's my wife's home town. I'm from North Liberty. I had a good friend who lived over by SB who was very involved in trying to solve the mystery of those two murdered little girls over there in Delphi. You familiar with that? He passed just a couple of months ago.

they ever solve that? My friend Doug was convinced that the cops were incompetent and barkin up the wrong tree. He thought the guy who most likely did it had taken his own life.
