Maybe I am confused between quotas and limits. We certainly have recreational limits on many species-both bag and size.

I think there quotas are in certain places-like Alaska-especially on the commercial end. You have to go back to college just to read the Alaska fish & game regs.

NOAA and NMFS Manage and regulate All commercial tuna fishing in the country. They also regulate recreational tuna in the Atlantic ocean and the Gulf of Mexico. I don't know why they don't in the Pacific ocean, but sooner or later they will. The 2020 commercial Pacific Bluefin quota is 356 metric tons. If that amount is reached the season will be closed.

Numbers dropped off quite a bit yesterday which means the fish are moving after weeks of staying in the same vicinity. Hopefully they are moving north. The bulk of the schools have been 60 to 80 miles south of San Diego so moving north would be great for most private boats.

who was saying in one of these other posts about catch and release, or overfishing? Heck..if no ones around and the fish are co operating..why not huh?I mean..if theres enough for the person fishing and company..enjoy it as much as you can get away with, cuz someday all that'll be pulled out of the water will be plastic items of this and that.

It's called poaching and it's a crime, that's why. Oh and most states pay a reward for turning them in.

No quotas.

And most boats are going into Mexican waters-10 fish per day limit but some fish (dorado-marlin) count as 5 fish.

As they should. They are not little guppies.
