I am extremely new to fishing and I caught this about 4 days ago but I can’t find out for the life of me what the name of it is.

Looks kinda like a Tilapia.

Agree with the others, most likely Tilapia. Also, looks like Florida, and there are a ton of tilapia in unexpected spots that I have seen.

Yes it is in Florida and I believe you are right with it being tilapia because looking at other pictures it’s identical.

Cool! What were you using for bait? I've seen a bunch of tilapia, but never caught one. I am mostly using plastic worms or other artificial baits and the tilapia seem to complete ignore them.

I was just using bread mushed around the hook but before that I was using artificial baits but was getting nowhere.

Bread is the go to bait for tilapia I have heard. Good eating!

I don't know the name because we haven't been introduced, but it is a Tilapia.

Tilapia are vegetarian, I've heard, so bread would be of more interest to them vs. worms or grubs. Call him Harry.
Next time you go take along also a small can of shopeg ( white corn ) and try it. PS don't forget the can opener. the old man
