Hello, my name is Art Cortez and I recently purchased a new Hobie Outback and plan to go fish the sand bar area of Port Mansfield. I believe this area is known as the Targets. Has anyone recently fished that area?

Hello Art.Cortez: Welcome, Yes, I am familiar with the targets at Pt. Mansfield. I believe they were between Pt. Mansfield and the Arroyo Colorado, near Harlingen. In fact in the InterCoasttal Canal in that area I caught my personal best trout of perhaps 6 or so pounds. I never weighted it so don't know for sure. That area was a very productive fishing spot when I lived in the Valley. i've been gone for almost 30 plus years, so am not current on what's happening there.

You should have rather primative and open fishing water in the Laguna to the north since Pt. Mansfield is about as remote as anything any where on the Texas coast. Good Luck and post to Pictures. Just Sayin...RJS

Art.Cortez: Are you asking about the Land Cut, the passage thru the Padre Island at Mansfield, or something else? I am not able to read your map clealy enough to identify the place. Justr Sayin....RJS
