Usually this time of year king salmon are staging close to shore In Lake Ontario ready to go up the river to spawn. Not this year. We went out Sunday and started in 120 ft of water. I sent the temperature probe down and thought it was broken , it was 70 degrees 100 ft down so we picked up and went out 6 miles and temperature was still 70 90 ft down. Sent it to 125 and finally found 48 degrees and fish. We’ve never caught fish that deep but temp was there. Mostly steelhead and a few king salmon. We’re probably going to have a rough winter because lake is so warm , lake effect snow. Hopefully ice fishing will good we haven’t had a lot of ice in the last few years. I only took one picture my friend nick with a Steele

Beauty! Glad you found them. What kind of a temp probe are you using for 125’ depth? Curious.

How do you get the reading off it? Is it manual or somehow remote?

So it's remote, wireless, that would be a good unit to have.

So you have to have a cable that's 125+ feet long to get a reading that deep?
No sensor on the cable on the downrigger at the downrigger Up top they give you a special down rigger wire you spool on after taking off old stainless cable
