Oct is a great month on the outter banks just make sure your tackle is heavy enough because the fish is huge drum and writings you may wanna pm Plum he is closer than I am fresh shrimp and cut bait and blood worms are what we used to include fish bite

Where are you planning to be on the OBX? That covers well over a hundred miles.

I don’t know if you’ll have to come further south, but that’s going to be slap dead in the middle of our annual Spot run!!! They are smaller fish, but they are absolutely delicious, and limit is 50 per person. We usually limit out in about 2 hours to 2.5hrs.... blood works due the trick

There's a current from the north and another from the south that meets at Buxton, so you've got two very distinct patterns to the north and south ends of the banks.
