I'm just starting to fish with a wacky rig, i fish off the banks and i'm not getting the distance i need weightless, i was thinking of adding a 1/4 oz. drop shot to it or even a 1/4 oz. weedless wacky jig to get it out further, will this effect the action too much or will it work just fine.

I use the small lead inserts and it works fine.

Ditto on using the 64 ounce inserts or a 32nd ounce jig. I usually used a spinning rod for more control and distance to my casts. The softer plastic worms are also more buoyant and have better action when wacky rigged.

I take a bit of fine wire (like copper wire from a generator) and attach it
to the bottom of the wacky worm ring, then clamp on a split shot close
to the worm. The size can be changed according to your needs.

a weightless wacky rig fishes itself, when weighted you'll have to work a little.
