I took my grandson fishing last week at the local golf course. I knew they had some carp in there but did not know how big they were. After about 10 minutes we found out. Both carp are about 15#. Nice fight they give, unfortunately not so good on the table. We had a fun evening.

Got a twofer. Golf outing and fishing at the same time. I bet he had fun with those. Just as much as you did with him.

I have golf a little but Fishing is my mainstay along with Big Game Hunting. I used to ride bicycles in along train tracks into PIR ( Portland International Raceway ) and golf course right next door. There is ponds. There is huge Lg Mouth Bass in them. They were non edible because of chemicals in the water but fun t catch and release.

That Portland area is a scary toxic spot huh? I remember catching sturgeon down there by the St. John’s bridge. They looked nasty. Eyes all clouded over, deformed fins, nothing I would try to eat. Fished there once and never went back. You could smell the toxins in the water. That’s why I’d never fish the Columbia below Portland.

Good catches, and I'll bet a lot of fun. You don't have to eat everything you catch. I personally would prefer to go out and catch a 60 lb tarpon that jumpoed and did a real battle, release him and then go and have a plate of mixed seafood! Just Sayin...RJS

Just catch and release. Yeah its polluted. I spent 25 years working for Environmental Quality and know first hand more about what is in the water air and soil here as well as other US locations. Its too bad that so many companies and people ruined Environment to get rich and then try to get the rest of to believe it doesn't matter. I know it matters. Cancer and plenty of other health problems are a result of Environmental conditions. Water can easily have all sorts of bad for you chemicals that could be naturally in the water or from greedy humans.

E.pa.al, I don't need to get him hooked on fishing. He eats, sleeps and dreams about fishing. When he was three we went to a restaurant that had a big fish tank. He was mesmerized by the fish and had a hard time getting him to sit at the table and eat. He calls me often and says "Hi Pap. You doing anything today?" I know what that means. Love every minute of it.

Beautiful day and fish! Never ate one but when I was a kid there was a family who used to pay me for them.
