A welding shop should have discs made for grinding aluminum. A coarse belt on a sander should work pretty good also.

thank you Brian. I'll check it out.

That is a DW8404 Dewalt grinding disc for aluminum. Yep that's exactly what I want, but I can't find one anywhere. Lowe's and Home Depot and Ace have 0 and make no offer for ordering one. I think I could buy 10 of them on Amazon for about 30 bucks, not bad but I don't need 30 of em I'll probably never use it again after this job is done.
So if I could find one, I'd buy it and try it.

I can buy one on Amazon for 3.00 or so, but it won't get here until next Friday at the earliest. Thank you covid.
thank you Brian. I'll check it out. br br That i... (show quote)

Deal. I'll PM you my address. Look for it.

Hey I just looked into the "Bridgeport", I see they are no longer manufactured by Bridgeport, but Hardinge offers the Bridgeport model of their knee mill, whatever the hell that is. They don't show a price, they want me to ask for a quote. Mama always said, if you have to ask, you probably can't afford it. I'm guessing thousands? For a transom for my kayak? Probably not.

Yeah Spirit, you could probably find a 30 or 40 yr old one for 5-10k. Of course you would need a 8 ton forklift to move it. It's like a giant drill press, but the work table/vise moves on 3axis, precisely. Left-Right, Up-Down, In-Out. Every Machine shop, and most bigger automotive shops will have at least one.
