St Mary's River in Fla.
We're lookin' to move to Macclenny, Fla. on the St. Marys River close to Macclenny, Fla. Are there any fish in the river? I don't care iffin they're considered "trash fish" or not, as they're fun to catch anyways, but the eatin' kind are preferrable.
No, there are no fish in rhe St Mary's River since they heard you were moving there. Knowing how deadly you were as a fisherman, they have migrated to other waters. You will have to sneak up on them. Just Sayin...RJS
The one I've noticed is that the rivers east of the Mississippi, to include those in Florida, seem to dwarf those of my native southwest. It's kind'a discouraging.
Thanks, Robert..guess I'll have to break out the cammo!
The St.Marys around Macclenny is fresh water and there's plenty of fish. Going east the river becomes more brackish and once east of I95 you'll need a salt water license. Also the river marks the Florida Georgia line. You'll need a Georgia license on the north side and Florida license on the south.
The fishing is great in the St.Mary River as well as in the lakes around Macclenny, Fla.
Thank ya'll!! I'm wondering if there's any grindle (mudfish, spottail, grinner, dogfish) in there? They're really fun to catch and eat!
Bowfin are present in many rivers and lakes in South Georgia and North Florida.
Along the Savannah River in Augusta, GA., there is a walkway (miles long) and along the way are information plaques. One of them says that the settlers along the river had their tackle destroyed by bowfin. Interseting that I was introduced to them in Northern Indiana. (South Bens/Elkhart.
