It's supposed to be 60 tomorrow where I'm at but I know the water is still super cold. I'm going for large mouth. I plan on using jigs or chatterbaits because I've heard you want slow moving baits in cold water. Any other suggestions?

Wait until it's warmer.

I've had some awesome success with squarebills being burned in the winter.

I should've clarified. I'm in southern California where cold is 60° and normal is around 80°. This year has been particularly cold for winter hitting nearly 20° at the coldest in some areas. Fishing has been slow to say the least. It is finally warming up most days are around 60° - 70° and fishing is getting better. Water temps are still around 50-60°. it's great that where you fish you have success in the winter. My local lakes and ponds have been at a stand the last 8 or so weeks.

I'm in Los Angeles , I agree this year has been very bad, but my persistence is the only reason ive caught enough fish to stay sane.

Soft plastics. Worms and lizards worked very slow (when you think you are going slow, cut your speed to a quarter and that might be just right, works great in Otay lake in Chula Vista, CA.
Rattletraps. Chrome with blue or black back, also red or some crawfish color.
