Hi y’all Ray from Stockton ca trying to find some good spots on coast to surf fish. Went to Pacifica about a month ago caught a stingray and saw one very nice striper caught and few perch off pier. Saw people fishing the surf but didn’t go check them out. Now I have the itch to give it a try. Any suggestions from Santa Cruz to San Francisco in between. Thank you in advance. Ray

Hey, welcome to the Forum. You got more guts than I do with those sting ray. I know nothing about fishing the West Coast, just the Gulf Coast, and fresh water.

I always step on the tail when taking out the hook I see your pinching the eyes does that paralyze them???

I will figure no matter what it pisses them off. Maybe cant see but unless paralyzed can probably do some hurting. Related to a Shark. Many eat the wings cut to make imitation scallops if that is what I ate at chinese food lunch I would cut them out and enjoy them every chance I get.

Well, it is possible the stingrays on the Gulf Coast are more aggressive. We advise everybody who goes wade fishing to shuffle their feet along so they dont step on one and get a barb in their foot or ankle. It is excruciatingly painful and can seriously ruin your day. Just Sayin...RJS
