Is 20lbs braid fine for pike fishing? (In the UK) and do I need to use a wire trace/leader or not really? Any other general tips when fishing for pike would be appreciated!

Wire trace is best for pike in most situations due to the teeth. Many fishermen use 50-80 lb fluorocarbon as an alternative.

Awesome thanks, what would your thoughts be on my main line?

You’ll do fine with 20 lb braided mainline

Itll work, but braid isnt the best for toothy fish.
Go with a wire leader or some thicker flour or mono leader and you'll be good

Well I have a wire leader attached already luckily as I thought I'd need it , would you say my line is strong enough for pulling one in?

Depending on the size of your lures and on how much vegetation there is in the area you fish you can get away with that size. I mainly fish with big lures, and I use 50-80 lbs. You absolutely need a leader, either Steel or fluorocarbon/mono. If you use fluorocarbon or mono, use around 1 mm in diameter or bigger.

Oh yeah
People land large muskies on 6lb test (or lighter)
Just makes sure the drag matches the line.
You can always test yourself by pulling the line yourself. You want the drag to "slip" before the line breaks (or in heavier setups before it pulls you in).
Braid is quite strong (especially for its thickness) but doesn't stretch (and is suceptable to abrasion wear, i.e. teeth, rocks, debris)
Its great line but requires slightly different technique.
You should be fine though

Depends if you are ledger float fishing? If you're that i would yes you would need it. I use 50lb braid for my float fishing. Haven't had any problems. Good luck and tight lines👍

If you're using dead baits go for really oily ones like mackerel, Sardnies, Herring. Try and think outside the box a little.

Sounds to me like you are on the right track, just looking for confirmation. On braided line, watch for fraying, or any wear at all. Check your rod guides for any wear which will affect the line. Just Sayin...RJS
