A young woman (Leslie Slater)
from Conn. recently caught and landed a large northern pike; it was caught at West Branch Reservoir, Colebrook, Conn. !
The pike, which measured
46 in. and weighed 29 lbs. was
a tie for the state record going back 40 years !

I normally detest catching pike but I would have fought that one gladly. Lucky lady. I'm wondering if she caught it fishing from that kayak. That pike would have given her a fine time if she was. That shows we never know what's going to hit our bait. Way to go Leslie.

As a matter of fact, she and her family were trout fishing from
their kayaks when that big pike struck; she commented that she was lucky to have landed the fish aboard her kayak without getting capsized or losing a toe or foot
to the beast !

That's a big slimer! I won't let them in my boat, I don't care how big they are. "Cut your line!"

Hey YB, I believe west branch is below the dam at Colebrook River Reservoir. There's no launch ramp on it, carry in only. The Res.is so low,the 500ft ramp concrete ends just BEFORE the water. After tonight's rain it may refill some.

These were at the beginning of August.

Sometimes I can't get away from the toothy beasts. They have bitten off lots of my tackle.

One of the best fighting, best eating fish ever. Love catching them.
