Need some company...
Well.... the inevitable happened! I recently lost my position as Sales Director for a family owned business catering to the petroleum industry here in the northeast. With no cruise ships burning massive amounts of fuel, the airline industry cut by 85% and most people out of work or working from home the petroleum market tanked! So now I am in a situation where I have created an impressive presence on all the job boards yet the job market for people with my skill set is very slim. Long story short.... I'm fishing as much as I can. I have located a number of small ponds in central New York as indicated by the screen shot from my phone app. Every little red dot is a fishing hole I have visited.
If anyone in my area wants a fishing partner for the fall or is interested in fishing some little visited ponds in the CNY area and fishing out of a kayak, please feel free to reach out. I consider myself one of the 10% of the fishermen who catch 90% of the fish!
Thanks for taking the time to read this excerpt from my disappointing last few weeks and I hope to hear from a few interested parties who would like an adventure or two! Going to start hitting the Salmon river pretty soon as well!
Tight loops and tight lines!
Sincerely,
Brickyard

Sorry about your job loss. The OG industry will be back. From the look of your map, you sure do get around. Wish I could fish with you but I’m on the other end of the world. Good luck.
I wish I could fish with you but I'm down south in Missouri.
Hand Powered Kayaks are also probably reducing fuel needs over gas powered boats.
brickyard: Well, Hoss, I certainly know how you feel. The Oil Biz in one fickle mistress, one day you are king of the walk, and the next, a kick in the ass for everyone! It is the same here in Houston.
My Waterloo came in the 1980's, But the scenes are usually the same. If you can make a living by guiding folks fishing you would be wise to do so. Just Sayin...RJS
You really covered the area. Are all those red dots ponds or lakes accessible to the public?

How did you make out with LAURA? Hope you came through it safely and with minimum damage. Mike

We came out unscathed. All the damage was west and north of us. We had plenty of rain and some wind and a slew of tornado warnings but only one touchdown. Thanks for asking.
Yes they are... some are NY State Land Trust properties other are county property ...

Welcome to the Forum, Brickyard. I would love to catch a few salmon with you but you are a little too far East of me.

RJS has a great idea there. I had my guide license for 25 years and the $ guiding brought in paid for a bunch of fishing and hunting gear. Met some nice folk guiding too.
Sure sorry to hear about that. I’ve ridden out several booms and busts. Sometimes had too much to do and sometimes you couldn’t buy a job. But I have faith that you’ll get through it. Maybe even find another job or different type of job that you’ll like even better. Best of luck to ya.

Sorry you lost your job, that's never a good feeling. Looks like you've figured out a way to stay busy and not feel sorry for yourself. Enjoy it while you can.

Welcome to the forum Brickyard. Sorry to hear that you lost your job.
From all of the pins on your map I would say that guiding would be a good choice.
Give it a try, you may enjoy guiding enough to not look back.
