I religiously wear an auto inflate PFD While fishing on my boat
Had a stroke several years back and just a confidence thing. The inflatables are so comfortable I forget I’m wearing it
So today , I unhooked a nice saugeye and left the net on my casting deck. After untangling lure from net I quickly caught another smaller fish I flipped in the boat . While walking back to the livewell to deposit this fish, I tripped on the net and ended up face first into my passenger seat .
After regaining my senses, righting myself , straightening my bent glasses and wiping blood off my face, I started thinking that could have gone a whole lot worse. Coulda ended up overboard.
Anyone ever have a close call?

Hope to never need it but have promised to always wear it. Its an age thing and I don’t swim. Glad it was ok for you to not need one either.

Yes. I hooked my toe on some exposed wiring as I stepped up onto the front deck of a friend’s boat. Banged the left side of my head on the gunnel. Got up, checked myself and continued fishing. About a half hour later I felt an overwhelming need to lay done. I went out like a light. I woke up as my friend landed the boat at lakeside near my hotel. He was preparing to have me medivac’d. I felt perfectly fine. Asked him to continue fishing. My head was tender but otherwise no lasting effects. My wife wouldn’t agree but she knows me. 😂
Oh crap you told your wife ???

Now we know that the blow was near fatal if you ‘told the wife’ - never in a million years would I divulge something like that to mine. It would be my last ‘trip’ - no pun intended!🤪
Glad no one saw it.
One time at reel foot lake. Crappie fishing.
Wind was howling and cold. Had on rain suit
Went to urinate over the side and a rogue wave hit. Knocked me on my ass in the middle of the 14 ft John boat.
Harder I laughed , the higher my urine stream went. Seemed to go on forever !!
What a mess!!! Peed all over myself, the gear , lunch. Partner . Everything
And yes, everyone on that end of the lake was watching
Story I tell the grand kids

Must have been hard to get a hand on that situation.

If your around water enough....
I was going from pontoon to wet dock in winter conditions. Fell between the boat and dock. Heavy coat and boots didn’t help me, started sinking like a rock in 50 degree 30 foot water. Still here with the story, but there was a moment that if I hesitated I might not be.

Look on the bright side. You still have enough pressure to pee all over.

Said he did that also. The entire boat the way it sounds 😂
Seriously , read a report from COAST guard that talked about a lot of drowning recoveries has a male victim with his fly down. Implied that a lot of drownings result from falling overboard while urinating.
Can’t remember where I saw it.

Glad you’re alright. Is it safe to say that a slicker suit is mandatory to fish with you?
Like someone else said. Can’t muster that much pressure these days
Point is. PFDs are so advanced these days, if you spend any time on the water., really no excuse not to wear one .

I couldn’t agree more. Also connect the kill switch while running.
