Who all is preparing for this seasons deer season? I’ve got 6 ladder stands and have 3 ground blinds. Ladder stands are in place and have one ground blind to put out.

I am starting to get ready. Have to tighten the stands down and do some trimming as most are overgrown with all the rain. Looking for a new bow as mine is 35+ yrs old.

Yep, I know what you mean. My bow is a Bear 60 inch recurved that I bought new in 1967 or 1968! I wonder if I could even brace it today. My hunting buddy had converted to a compound bow and let me try it. I was not able to hit anything and would have to start over in learning how to shoot again. Just Sayin...RJS

The last 10 days have been dry, but we made up for it today. It came from the NW this morning

Well, my hunting partner and I hunted our very first deer hunt at the Aransas Natural Refuge, due to their having too many deer there that had neve been hunted, so they opened it for archery. We didn't do any good.

The next year planned to go again, but Hurricane Beulah killed that forcing us to hunt in the Hill Country. We had a successful hunt and I limited out with 3 deer. Just Sayin.l.RJS

Good luck everyone, looking forward to venison jerky and sausage. Going to try decoying antelope for my Son in SD in about a month, too.

That trimming sucks when you’re trying to trim out some hedge trees. Most of the time it leaves ya bleeding! Went out yesterday and put out a trail camera and was walking down the tree row and saw deer coming towards me about 200 yards away. I froze and they came within 75 yards of me then cut through the tree row and passed to my right. Never winded me. One was an 8 pointer the other a big 10 guessing 150” +-, Both in velvet. Would have had them on trail camera if it was already out.

Bow season here in Kansas opens September 14th, but too hot for me to be hunting. I don’t get excited until about the middle of October.
