Fished a few times for cats. Stink bait is what I use. Sure there is a lot of other baits used up there. Good luck and welcome to the forum.

Well, Hoss, it looks like you have asked about three different types of fish and they all are caught with three different styles of tackle. I think you are well advised to go to Youtube and see what their experts offer as far as each type. Just Sayin...RJS

Time2Fish 864-426-0709 Mike Gault This fellow knows how to catch stripers and catfish. I've been fishing with him three times and everyone on the boat got their limit every time. He runs a first class outfit. If you want to catch striped bass on Lake Murray, you will not be sorry you went with this guy. I figure I can pay for an education ( like I did the first 1/3 of my life) or I can spend more than that much money and a whole lot of time trying to figure it out myself.

Oops. Largemouth are another story. Mike Gault of time2fish does not target largemouth. I've asked him why not? He says it's too much work for the amount of fish you catch. My very limited experience of two years has shown me that targeting areas near good green vegetation that are also as close as possible to the deeper river channel produce the best bites for me. Two -six feet of water near some "weeds" has been my best area year round at lake murray. August has been the slowest month for me.

The first email i had (way back when) could only have six characters. I had a stud horse and small breeding operation. My accountant/lawyer advised me that I needed to make that a separate "business" since the IRS seems to be attracted to any type of horse activity. So we came up with White Oak Farm since there were several white oak trees around. Since my first email address could only have six characters I eliminated some letters. White Oak farm is no longer, but I've kept the same email address.

Gizzard shad was the bait of choice for stripers when I was there.

Lived right on Lake Murray in a leaky farm house for about a year while building fiber glass sail boats in Columbia, learning the trade working for my dad. One of the worst but most enlightening years of my life. I learned that Acetone hurts like hell but will heal a wound almost over night. Mike

And don't get the fiberglass HARDNER on your finger nails. Softens them up and feels like someone is pushing splinters under them. I know.
