Big Lk for trout is good (quite a drive-plan to camp), but you might want to wait till mid-Sept. till then, check out the lakes in your backyard. Fools Hollow in Show Low (trout and Bass), ShowLow Lake (actually in Pinetop for trout and bass), Scott Res (Pinetop), and Rainbow Lk (can catch just about anything here, but a boat of any kind is healpfull as its heavily developed - not much public shoreline). Also, Past the turnoff towards Big Lk (on the 260) are the Greer Lakes in Greer (trout). None of these are on the reservation so you won’t have to have a special license.
