20# braid is about the diameter of 6# mono. You are fine with 2-3ft of your mono tied onto the braid. Enjoy.

Just remember if your braid line is too fine, or thin, and its on a casting reel, I have found it will cause problems and when you get an inevitable crows nest, it will be more difficult to untangle. It is better to have a higher strength test braid, so the size will be more easily managed. Just my opinion from experience. Just Sayin...RJS
