Mornin' Mike. Well,,,,,,, it's a member of the catfish family, probably a flathead. No clue on the word, it's too early.
Morning Mike
Its a catfish of some sort but I haven't fished them since I was 10. I guess if you tied on a leader, hook and chicken liver you could have a fish fry.1☺

Flathead cat, midnight Medusa, they like live bait. a small bream or large creek chub will find them close to wood many times. Some of the best eating catfish you'll find.

Around here we call them bullheads. They love nightcrawlers.
The scramble word is leader
Excellent move. Follow the leader!
For this part of Texas, that is a yellow catfish, and there are other species, such as blue cats, hard headed cats,
Tennessee Spotted Cats, to name a few. Just Sayin...RJS
I was going to say Channel Cat but I guess it looks more like the little yellow mudcats but cant really tell how large it is. Worms. If its a little yellow mudcat...I have caught 5 gallon bucket of them on 1962 woooden boat I have. If it a channel I have caught many of them and they are worth the time of cleaning them and everyone at fish camp came back to lick the pan and the plate they came out of pan onto.

It’s a flathead catfish my grandad holds the wv state record and has since 1956. It weighed 70 lbs.
