First time fishing from a kayak. I was hoping to catch trout and red drum in the Gulf of Mexico. However, I came home with 15lbs. of Gafftopsail catfish.

herb , i used to eat them when i furst moved here in 89. you can eat them . i used to marinate chunks overnite and fry them . make sure you cut blood line . meat is good. but dont try the hard head cats they dont taste very good.sails give you a battle too. enjoy. oh did you notice the amount of slime this fish has? sticky stuff, always change rigs after.

Don't know how you handle your hardhead cats but they are very good eating. You can't just cut a fillet and throw it in the frying pan. I prefer them smoked but I do fry them as well!🐱 🐟 feed the pioneers for years...

you want some bonita filets to go with your hard head delites? finfish? or maybe some oyster cracker and sauted sea robbin or perhaps a nice ribbon fish sandwhich? we can deep fry anice lizardfish if you wish? because you are truly a pioneer when it comes to gourmet fish cuisine. cigar minnow with gray puopon i hear is a treat. needle fish are tasty too but more of an appetizer. there just SOMANY TASTY FISH FOR YOU EAT! ENJOY THEM MY FRIEND.
