Uni? Clinch? Davy? What’s your go to?
My tippet to fly knot has changed a bit over the last few years. At first I was tying an improved clinch on everything because I knew it well and could tie it reliably. Then I started tying a double Davy and really enjoyed how quick and easy it was. At some point I switched to a clinch for some reason and haven’t had any issues but after a couple days of changing flies often I’m thinking of going back to something quick and easy like the double Davy. The Uni also looks interesting but I have to practice with it a bit to get efficient at tying it. I haven’t really played around with loop knots for better action on nymphs and streamers...I should probably work on those as well.
My tippet to leader knot has always been a surgeons and I don’t see that changing.

I use a non-slip mono loop for just about all flies, and a blood knot for tippet to leader. I like the loop for letting nymphs and streamers move more naturally, and for dries it makes it easier to not catch any hairs in my knot, and to let them land a little softer (that one's probably just in my head). I like the blood knot because of how easy to tie it is, and how straight it keeps my leader.

Blood knots have a reputation of being super hard to tie but after practicing a little, they aren’t that bad.
And I may have to try your non-slip mono for dries. It sounds very interesting though I currently use it only for streamers.

Go to for me is like you said, improved clinch because of how familiar it is for me to tie it. The double davy is one of those I never remember to try out on the river but need to start trying it out. It's easy as pie to tie. The orvis knot is another one I need to try more on the river.

Uni knot for EVERYTHING. Uni to uni for line to line, regardless of different diameters, sizes or types of line.
