I want to get more into fishing and learn how to use a baitcaster any Suggestions on what one to get that is good for a starter and is not super expensive?

My opinion is dont buy a super cheap one it will frustrate you, get a semi decent one that will work well.

The Lews speed spool LFS is a really solid baitcaster and runs about $100. I also really like the Daiwa Tatula 100 but they tend to backlash a bit more if you’re learning to cast with them and run about $150.

The Daiwa Fuego or Tatala. They are good entry level baitcast reels. They run 80-130 depending on which you buy and where. In general look at 100 for a reel to start. Only a couple under 100 are worth it. The better reels start at 160 and go up.

Check out the Garcia line of reels...Pro Max, Silver Max, etc. for $50 to $75 on an 6' Ugly Stick,
medium action, should get you started economically. You'll get many, many hours of use before you decide to upgrade.
