From the description I found they are in the shiner family, about 5” long.
Thanks

Sure looks like one. They can get bigger than 5 inches - way bigger. World record is over 3 pounds.
What kind of water is that? They generally like current and "falls" - that's why they're called fallfish. They like clear clean water - unlike carp which they sorta resemble. Carp can live about anywhere there's water.

Welcome to the Stage Bob14. You will get used to being treated rude from Spirit. It’s in his nature. LOL. Looking at the picture that fish looks way longer than 5”, maybe 12-14”? I’m guessing it is a carp. See what others say. Enjoy the Stage. Lotta good people and info here.

Welcome to the stage Bob. It sure looks like one to me. Our state record (right down the street) is 2lb 4oz, caught in the Farmington River in 2012.

I stand corrected Spirit. Never heard of a fallsfish but have seen plenty of carp. Looked it up and they are indigenous to East coast from Va. to Maine. Not sure how a Cali fisherman knows about an East coast minnow. Well done.

I grew up in Indiana and I've fished on the east coast and I looked it up too just to make sure. And I've fished all over the world at one time or another. Haven't been as many places as Hank Snow, but I've been to a few.
Join the Navy and see the world! Glad you had chances to wet a line in so many places. Makes me jealous! LOL I have fished in Cape May, N.J. for shark. I will post the story in the near future. Several head boats out of CM also. Chartered a boat in Aruba and caught a 45# yellowfin and wahoo. Another story. Fished Lake of the Woods in Canada a few times for walleye. As a kid parents went to N Minnesota just above Mille LacsLake. Caught my first pike when I was 3. Got me hooked. I have fished a number of lakes in W. Pa. I missed a lot of years with the work stuff but trying to catch up now. Younger years, plenty of energy but no time. Now, plenty of time but not much energy. Such is life!
I was very fortunate. Like you, I now have the time, but the will is not what it once was. Oh well, fond memories.
That is certifiably Muskie bait.

Well, I've got the desire, the places AND the people to go fishin with, just can't do it right now with all this virus stuff still a problem. Hope I'm still able when all this stuff is better.
