I have never fished this lake. What species of fish are here and what are the best lures or baits are best?
Ron Loney: Well, Hoss, neither have I, but if I wanted to know and had a computer, I would go to Google and make my first inquiry. Nothing wrong in asking here, but you might have time well spent to go tools that are at hand. Just Sayin...RJS

ALAMO LAKE
RATING - GOOD
Flipping/pitching shallow and deep trees have been working really well. Top water frogs and chatter baits also have been working. Any creature style bait to imitate a crawfish will do the trick Crappie fishing has been very good try trolling jigs tipped with minnows or small tubes/grubs in 10-18 feet of water. Crappie hang near big and tall trees out in the middle of the lake. Use your graph. Water is up so all fish have new areas to explore. Lake has a bad algae bloom fishing has slowed down due to this cause
Alamo Lake is known for large mouth, crappy, cats. Lots of tmxโs there, but right now itโs a little hot (110+!). Try creature baits (tx rigged - brush hogs are popular in green and brown -maybe blue) in the bushes, wood, etc. The lakeโs been way up for a while, so that could be the ticket (unless theyโve dumped water as they too often do). Manny areas are sandy, then gravel and small rock (alternating). When you hit the rock, slow down and hang on! Good luck - take lots of water.....

Typically, soft plastic baits and jigs fished slowly in deep water are your best bet for wintertime bass. As winter gives way to spring, and lake temperatures begin to rise, the bass will become more active as they search out their shallow water spawning areas.

Ron,
On Sunday morning on the local sports station Fox Sports Arizona there is a fishing show called Fishing with Johnny Johnson. This week they featured Alamo Lake. I believe it replays on Wednesday and Saturday morning.
