Nick is what I Prefer I live and fish down and around San Diego for Quite a few years now ! Like Saltwater fishing the most , But Fish for everything all the Time !
Hey Nick. Welcome to the stage. I lived down in San Diego area for about 25 yers and I fished a lot of salt. Where do you fish and what do you fish for? I lived in Imperial Beach and used to fish the surf over there North of the pier. The pier itself can be productive, but too many people for me. Better to just walk up the beach toward the state park - I used to have that all pretty much to myself. That was 20 years ago. Don't know what that would be like now.
Welcome Nick: Lots of sage advice here. Spirit is one and he has already answered. Please post some pictures of your catch. Just Sayin...RJS

Welcome aboard there Nick.
I'm like you , my friends also , we tend to stay by ourselves ,although we are funny with jokes ! Anyways We mostly fish the Bays , Mission Bay at Mariners Point Has been real productive with some halibut , and Spotted Bay Bass ! I like to Surf Fish for Perch on Coronado Island , Behind the Hotel Dell Coronado , Best bait is soft shell sand crabs But they are hard to come by nowadays !
Thanks Robert , supposed to be heading down to the Bay here in an hour or so Ill sure post some Soon !

Have you tried the Berkley artificial sand crabs? They work. And the Berkley sand worms work as well. Between the state park (silver strand) and the IB pier is where I used to fish for perch - would get the occasional halibut. Plastic grumbs can be good for perch also.

Welcome Nick, to the stage. Remember we love pictures.
Haven't tried the Berkeley baits ,sounds like I need to , I started building this boat that was built in 1958 it looked like crap when I started on it as COVID project ,because it was running rampid , I ended up catching it later needless to say that was the worst virus I caught in my life but anyways I finished the boat and now it's a bad ass , fishing, and lobster, and pleasure craft ,I got some really good spoted bay bass spots in Mission and San Diego bay if your interested, Most everyone I know except a couple work so I don't got no one to share the good fishing with if your interested hit me up , Nick 619-530-6747 thanks for the tips and tight lines always!
Thanks and tight lines always!
My favorite like most everyone that's ever caught any is halibut ,there tricky though , Spotted Bay bass , shortfin Corvina , Spotfin , and Barred Surf Perch when there spawning ,they get huge !
