Musky lures
Targeting Muskie in a muddy creek about 4-6ft deep wondering if anyone had any good suggestions since I haven’t had any bites yet but I’ve seen a few swimming

Obviously big spinners are a go to, but a lot of people I know hook musky just on regular bass gear. I got one to my boat (then my buddy didn’t net it) on a shallow diving crankbait in a blue gill pattern.

Could be interesting to try I have lots of bass bait I’ve already ordered spinners they seemed like the first choice :)

Spinners or big spinnerbaits. A 1/2 ounce spinner bait will work. If you are seeing them swimming it is a plus. Are the musky following your lures? If so do a figure 8 or similar move.

Both times were following one on my bluegill swimbaits that I didn’t notice coming up and pulled it right out of its mouth as it chomped down the other followed my dads mini Medusa lure to shore but backed off I’m assuming it noticed something was off as nothing in that creek resembles that lure

Always do a ending move before lifting the lure out of the water. A a lot of pike or musky hit on the eight move. They may appear to veer off but do come back sometimes. The bluegill swimbaits are good lures for musky and pike. I use 5-6 swimbaits and they get hit a lot. Sometimes downsizing a bait does the trick. I had big muskies chasing a 10 inch lures. Used a 5-6 inch lure and they crushed the smaller lure.
If they are following and not hitting try another spot for an hour or two then come back. That is another good tactic for musky not striking and only doing follows. Do not over pressure fish when following. Try the smaller lure and then move and come back.

good luck man, i’ve been targeting musky at my local spillway for the past month and the only one i’ve caught was when i was reeling in a small perch and it came and grabbed it and held on just long enough for me to net it

Hey a catch is a catch, I might have to try live bait soon

A suick (dive and rise) type jerkbait might be good!

I do have a shallow jerkbait but it’s 7in and I cannot for the life of me get a good action out of it it either wants to just float at the top or immediately divebombs the dirt for a snag

I use chatter bait with a fluke on it. Got a young musky this year and it just set itself pretty nice

In murkey water I like a grey back 675 AC shiner , Very important if you see one flowing your lure do not stop the lure keep it moving go right into a figure eight.
If the water is really murky opt for a black bait. Shallow runner (very shallow) Musky like to look up. I saw the figure eight mentioned here and that is a great way to re interest a Musky that lost interest at first. Stay quiet
when you come in to an area you want to fish. Big Muskies are very smart they didn't get big by being stupid.
I used to spend hours and hours on Lake St. Clair fishing for the big ones. Got lucky a few times but the rule
there was you had to fish 40 hours approx to get hooked up and you could maybe land 1 out of 5 over 30#. Tough fish in every way.

How are you tying it on? Direct? With a leader or a swivel? Try something different to see if you get better action. If not, and it can’t be tuned retire it.
