Was thinking of getting a kayak for the California delta a pretty good one maybe 12 foot but have had a boat on delta and know what happens when the strong tides come in and winds come up but would like to fish the slews for catfish where your somewhat protected from the wind around bethel island or closer to Stockton where the river is not as wide any thoughts on this

Get comfortable in your kayak and you should be ok. You can also get stabilizers for them, which will give you a little bit more security.

You and I were posting at about the same time G. That's really nice and I see a lot of em up on the higher lakes around here. Perfect platform for fly fishing those small alpine lakes. I would think it would be great on the delta also.

I've been looking at that as an alternate to a small jon boat. Nowhere for my grandkids though

Or a canoe? Ease of transportation. As a young man I spent many an hour fishing from a canoe. That's back when kayaks were far less common than now, but canoes were everywhere. Great for kids too, and all their gear.
