Hi, I am a new fisherman and I am wondering how to hold a bass in the mouth. I’ve tried looking it up but the pictures make it hard to decipher finger placement. I’m specifically wondering how to avoid the teeth. Is this possible or is it something you just have to suck up?Thanks in advance for the help.

Just grab the inside of its mouth, just past the jaw/lip line. There aren't really any teeth, just some "grabbers" which is more like rough sandpaper on the lip. It won't hurt you...just grab it firmly. Good luck and hook into some big ones.

It can be tricky to distinguish between the different bass. I also try to go fishing as much as I can even when it super hot out!!! Sometimes the fish don’t bite on those hot days though. Still fun to be out and trying new things!!

put your thumb close to the underside of the tongue. This will stop some of th epoking but if you want to lip the bass, that is somthing you deal with

Thumb inside the mouth lower jaw, fore finger under the jaw and grab. If you pick the fish up sideways while holding it by the jaw support it's belly with your other hand.

This but if the bass has a crank bait or a swim bait beware!

If the bass has a crank bait or other assorted hooks try grabbing it from above the head, squeeze the gill plates closed and apply pressure. The fish will usually kinda freeze while you get the hook out. I don't suggest holding the fish long like this but it does get the job done. I never use a net on fish I plan to release so I've had lots of practice at this, If you're landing the fish without a net another tip is try to cup your hand under it's belly and lift it many times this seems to relax the fish long enough to get it in the boat and get another hold on it.
