Hey fishermen and women! I am Ronson "Catmando" Smothers from Los Angeles. I am known from the Los Angeles to the Carolina for being the MAN who DOes CATfish...CAT-MAN-DO. Thanks for letting me join you all. I am known best for my 1999 California State Record Blue Catfish of 89.65 pounds. Since then, I have averaged one trophy fish per year over 40 pounds. It's been slow the last 5 years for trophies so I took a break. I am back at it in search of a new CA record and World record. I will be fishing Lower Otay and Lake San Vicente down in the San Diego area. They have new records swimming in their waters. The best times are between October and February. You get the fish that are fattening up for the winter in October, November and December. Then you have the spring spawning season in March, April and May.

In the meantime, the bluefin tuna are biting! They are in the 30 to 50 pound range and the limit is either 1 or 2. They are running from San Diego all the way up to where I am in LA. So tomorrow, I am going on my first tuna trip in about a decade. I will post a report after every trip and answer questions about catfish fishing. Until tomorrow....Meeeeoouuuttt! CMD
