I caught a channel cat once on a spinner. It was about 12”, on one of the Snake River reservoirs in Idaho.

That’s a great catch. I have to pile on that I only get catfish on night crawlers and baitfish I catch specifically to get the big cats and bass. Never had one on any kind of lure.

Thanks! He did mess up that lure. It really surprised me too, I thought that cats were bottom feeders and lazy biters.

I think they use more sense of smell. I have that lure and a big catfish I have been after. Maybe there is something to the vibration.

Earlier this year I caught a hardhead cat that had 2 foot of line hanging out of its mouth and found it had jig with blue double tail gut hooked when I cleaned it. I posted about it

You need to study up on your catfish. They are amazing predators, not lazy bottom feeders. You will catch more catfish fishing for bass than you ever will catch bass fishing for catfish. And that's particularly true of the bigger ones. And they taste good.

Spirit is right! I fish for Redfish and Black Drum and it's rare that I catch 1 but I do load up on the Catfish which I smoke and vacuum seal for long term storage. Don't get me wrong I do fry some and freeze some but I love them smoked!😍 And they are fighters!
