My favorite species around here. Fight is nearly pound for pound with a bluegill, just with more pounds.

Size and location mostly, but also head/body shape and there is a difference in the fins as a last check. White bass also tend to have much lighter lines than stripers, but that's not a guarantee and can depend on their environment.

I used to catch small stripers on the fly (two pounds and under) and I don't think I could tell the difference if you handed me one of each, lol

Where I live we don’t have stripers so it makes it pretty easy to tell which one it is lol
