👍 Something I use on all my rods after cleaning the is Pledge furniture polish. I wipe the entire rod down...rubber grips, cork etc...and all the guides inside and out. It will make your rod look new again and makes your guides super slick. You can use Pledge on everything and it wont harm anything including your line...braid or mono.
I also clean my entire motorcycle with it. I learned it from custom bike builders that build show bikes. They use it because it doesnt attract dust etc..and keeps their bikes/cars free of dust in shows. I use it a lot. Pant, rubber, leather ...anything. Give it a shot.
Just an fyi.

I can agree with that! Pledge rules over oxidization!

Meguiar's "Ultimate Waterless Wash & Wax" is a far superior choice than Pledge, both for actual function, as well as much more appropriate for the surfaces* as it cleans and coats in one action easily with a microfiber cloth.

*(except CORK !?! Why would you "treat" cork with a "wax" ? I "touch it up" w/ 180g sandpaper... rolling motion improves grip by creating microscopic grooves).

I beg to differ on the "dust attraction" factor. Spray a little shot on your favorite dining table or similar and buff to your heart's content.... you will still be able to write your name in the residue....the same residue you are leaving on your rods (and pants ?!!?)
As with so many widely touted products (Armor All, 303, Thompson's Water Seal and the majority of "deck treatment" products) the payoff is instant gratification in appearance....not so much 30 days later. (Much like the video that keeps popping up on here about "spinning reel maintenance", where the kid never gets inside the reel, but does a damn fine job of wiping it down the outside with WD-40 !!) These are all products that never actually "polymerize" (fully dry). They depend on a refurbishing maintenance regularly and provide little to nothing in way of "durable protective coating".
40+ years of professional furniture making and have yet to find the "perfect" finish/coating, ....be it varnish, lacquer, polyurethane, acrylic, Tung oil, carnauba wax, beeswax, synthetic wax, paint....
you name it..... but I CAN tell you what DOESN'T WORK ! LOL !
But hey, just my opinion... good luck with whatever you decide.

I'll stick with pledge. I dont want my rods "coated" with anything That's what the epoxy coating is for. And for composite rods I'd never put an auto wax on them. Pledge cleans and makes it shiny new and the guides slick.Durability isnt the issue. The reg .maintenance is. I have rods over 25 yrs old that are strictly saltwater and still look like new with rust free original guides. I wont use wd-40 on anything except frozen screws, bolts etc. It does nothing re rust/corrosion. I also have a street glide and two fourwheelees that get washed and pledge. They get stripped and waxed once a year. Then pledge.
Cork....the mention of cork was meant to state that pledge will not harm it if you get spray on it. Same with rubber or anything else. It would be silly to use anything that makes things slick on grips, bike seats, tires etc..
Ps...those showbike builders do use auto wax, ceramic coatings etc...but they use pledge at shows etc to keep the dust down so they dont have to wipe it down 10 times a day. Anybody whose ever waxed something can watch the dust run to it like a magnet.
At my age I do what's worked for me for years. But hey.... the next wooden fishing rod I get I'll consider varnish, polyurethane and auto wax. My decision was made years ago LOLOL!😘
