Hello all,
I'm taking my grandkids to Trinity Lake and I haven't been there since I was a kid (10). Any recommendations on how to catch fish from shore to make it fun for them (they are 9 and 12 year old boys). I'm trying to get them away from tech. Got them out camping and now trying to keep their interest in outdoors activities.
I appreciate any help
Thanks
GoBob

Welcome GoBob. I've never fished Trinity but there are a couple of guys on here who live up around Redding and they'll probably be on here with some tips for you. What will you be fishing for? Don't want to be discouraging, but bank fishing this time of year can be tough due to the water temp - fish generally head for deep water where it's cooler. But. They do come in to feed in the early morning before the sun hits the water and in the evening. Best of luck. Have fun with those boys and please post some pictures.

Thanks Spirit, I was hoping to catch some trout, bass or catfish if they are in the lake. I have been looking into renting a boat for a day to get them out on the lake.

Been about 3 decades since I was there for a few days camping, about this time of year. We were guests of folks with a new ski boat, so fishing was, unfortunately, secondary. I do remember catching a couple of trout... nothing to write home about.
Main thing I remember about that trip ?........LOTS AND LOTS OF RED DUST !!! Permeated absolutely everything from tents to clothes to vehicles. Had inflatable kayaks with us, looked like I was washing away blood from a crime scene when I got home and was cleaning up ! .....Be prepared.... clothing in "fall colors" would be a good start.... your favorite light-colored ANYTHING will never recover ! Good luck ...warn the gk's not to take their favorite sweatshirt or white shoes !

Hey GoBob, where you from in the north bay?
You need to PM Mitchfish. He fishes up there and should be able to help you. Tell him Saw1 said HI.
