Trying to fish for bass but I’m used to trout fishing... Need advice.
I’m from the Inland Northwest - Eastern Washington. I fish with a 10’ kayak on most of our smaller lakes in the region, but sometimes above dams, too. I’ve got a 7’ Shimano Ugly Stick and a Daiwa spinning reel. I know there are both large and small mouth bass in Newman Lake, but I have no idea how to catch them. There are a lot of lily pads on the lake and I tried a frog lure across the top yesterday, but no dice. Then I tried bobber fishing with worms for a bit and got my bait stolen twice, but other than that, nothing. Any tips or advice? Anyone caught bass on Newman Lake, WA?

Texas rig and weightless worm are my go to.

Havent tried Newman lake yet so I wouldn't be of much help there. I have caught them out of diamond, eloika, and silver mainly using swimbaits or frogs, Texas rig a worm right now works well too.

Thanks! As for technique, do you just bounce the Texas rigged worm across the pads like you do with the frog, or do you let them sink a little?

I let them sink and flick it a bit to give the worm "life", try different depths to get it in front of the fish.

My sister and her BF go to Diamond all the time. I may try up there in a few days, too. :)

Regardless of where you are fishing for bass, when using lures, especially plastic imitation bait, a good rule of thumb is retrieve slowly. If it feels slow, it's not slow enough.

Fish slow let them sink to bottom and slowly work back to you and as stated earlier when you think you are slow enough slow down
Why mess with those nasty bass. Fun to catch but the trout ate excellent eating fried or smoked. Barney
