Taking a trip to visit a friend out in Colorado. Was going to bring my fly rod along. Normally I wet wade in hiking boots with wool socks where terrain varies from rocky and silty and I have to do a bit of hiking. Problem is, packing my designated wading hikers will be a challenge due to bag space. My question is, would wet wading in chacos for 2 days be workable? This is my first time fishing in Colorado so I'm not sure what to expect. I'll be in the Vail valley fishing the Eagle River, Gore Creek, Brush Creek.

I think you'll be fine, based upon your tolerance for cold water. That can be pretty chilly water, though I've been at 10,000 feet the past few weekends and the water temperature wasn't too bad.

You’ll be able to get some wading done in those specially if the suns out and warms your blood but if you catch some overcast days or colder fronts you may only stay in a limited time. The water itself will generally only change a couple degrees

I wouldn't worry about the temps so much as how slippery your chacos are going to be on these rocks.

Yeah, the chacos have a fairly aggressive grip, but this was my main concern as well. My boots have great grip but also added protection for my feet and ankles.

Neoprene wading socks,( Korkers or Simms,~$25), will keep your feet a bit warmer and give a modicum of ankle padding. I use mine with a pair of Keens with studded felt glued on the bottom.
