Hello everyone. I am headed up to Soda Springs with the family for a few days at the end of August. I know there is the Yuba River but I think it's potentially near Kidd Lake and Dear Lake.

I want to get some bank/shore fishing when I am there. Anyone have suggestions. I know I can search Google but I wonder if anyone had any experience on those waters and any advice for late August fishing in the area.

River pictures are a certainty. The fish part is something I can hope for. I'm really a rookie fisherman still and this is new territory. Fingers crossed and no matter what, lessons to be learned.

If you are a beginner, it is almost a universal answer to use local live bait if you can get it. A local bait shop should be able to supply whatever is used. They should also be able to give you some idea where and when to have your best chance. Just Sayin...RJS

Gills, folks like Spirit, Saw1, etc. should be along any time they can offer up ideas

I know this is late being that your post was in June. But I was up there a week ago in Soda Springs and was trying to find access to the Yuba River in that area and it was difficult actually passed on it because of the snow. We decided to go to Boca reservoir and with four-wheel-drive was able to drive to the inlet of the reservoir which is the Little Truckee River and try to fish there but most of the fishable water was covered in ice. So we returned back towards soda springs and fish the Truckee river for no success. Water was flowing good and there was a midge hatch that was going off pretty well fished for about an hour as the sun was setting it got real cold and we gave up with no luck.

Yesterday fish the Yuba river near Smartville way down from Soda Springs for two hits the whole day saw approximately 50 people fishing on the river for no luck . My son-in-law had one on and he jumped out of the water and came off. That’s the best information I have.
