I’m interested to see if clams are a good bait for bluefish. It’s all I have but if I find out that another bait is better for blues I’ll get it. What is your favorite bait to use for bluefish?

Cutbait or live bait. They can also easily be targeted with Spoons or Gotchas

If you're set on using the clam though, you might catch some small fish that you can cut up or use live

Heard of boink but never yoink
Oh come on, we all been yoinkin that thing since we's about 12 or 13. Don't play all innocent.
When the blues are feeding you can use a piece of aluminum foil, anything shiny - a bare hook. They are not hard to catch if you're there at the right time.

That's true for any school in salt water.
For Blues just listen for the Chomp, Chomp, Chomp. LOL
If you see a bluefish boil or blitz you can do 1 of 2 things. If you want to tie into a blue, cast something shiny into it or at the edge of it and reel like hell to mimic a baitfish fleeing, and it will probably trigger a strike. If no strike, recast and try again, it won’t be long until you’ve got one, then hang on for a tenacious fight. Don’t crank down too much on the drag, and when they run (and they sure will) let them. Don’t try to winch them in while running or you’ll lose it, guaranteed. When they stop running, pump the rod and reel in the slack you’ve created, but be ready for the next run when it comes, then let it again. Repeat as often as neccesary. If you see the boil or blitz, the other thing you can do is to cast chunk bait to it and let it sink below the bait ball that the blues are attacking. Beneath the mayhem and carnage will be stipers picking off the dead, dying, and chunks of baitfish from the blues above that drift down to the waiting stripers. When hooked, the stipers put up a very respectable fight, though not as frenzied as a bluefish. Same rules apply. Either way, it’s why we do this - it’s an absolute blast.
