I would like to take a run down to Port A or Corpus Christi to catch some Redfish. I haven't done this before. Any recommendations on the best time of the year to go down there for Redfish?

Thanks,

I fished Port A three years on Winter vacations, '10, '11 & '12. Winter is the slow time for most saltwater fish I caught most of my Redfish on the South side of the Pike road going to the ferry, closer to Aransas Pass. Early Spring, March & April, or Sept. & Oct would be a much better time to catch fish. You should be able to get into some Sheepshead off of the Jettys with ghost shrimp or live shrimp during the early Spring. Use light line, Sheepshead are hard to catch and harder to clean but very good to eat. The Port A area got hit with a hurricane a few years back and they are rebuilding. Places to stay are a little hard to come by. Also, the Red Tide likes that area and that will take the shore fishing out of the picture. Port A was hit hard by the Red Tide in '12 and that was why I quite going down there. You should do some research before you go down. Tight Lines!
