Tips on un-kinking Ned Rig Finesse TRDs?

Okay...this is kind of a weird question. Often times, when I catch a smallie on a Ned rigged Finesse TRD, it'll get kinked up on the hook. It's hard to explain, but the plastic gets crooked, like part of it is caught up in the hook. I honestly don't know how/why it happens, and it only happens if a fish bites it; getting snagged on structure never kinks it in this manner

I've always struggled with figuring out how to straighten it out, and I usually just end up taking it off the jig head completely and putting it back on. This reduces the life of the jig though, and it's a pain in the pass.

I feel like I can't be the only one who experiences this. Anyone got any tips on how to unkink them?

I just stretch them back out while still on the jig head. It works most of the time, but occasionally it won't stay connected and slides on the jig head.

Can you expand on what you mean by stretching them back out? Like, you just pull it?

What brand of jig head are you using? I’ve had terrible luck using Z-man plastics with anything but z-man jig heads. I find the thin wire hook that they design just for their elaztech baits works really well keeping the bait straight on it. Any other jig head/bait keeper seems to be too chunky, and gets caught up on the inside of their bait, causing that bunching/kinking effect. Also the thinner wire hooks/bait keepers seem to do lesS damage when you do have to re rig your worm! That being said, the zman jig heads aren’t the best quality, I’ve had a Big trD worm last longer than my the jig head, no joke! I also haven’t fished their finesse TRDs yet but it seems to work well with me for their big trds, craws, and tubes.

I'm using the Z-man jig heads, and I'm using the wire hook. The kink really only happens after I catch a fish (or a fish bites it). There's gotta be something they are doing that doesn't happen if I just snag something.

I imagine if it gets a good pull on the tail it gets kinked up on those positioning barbs on the hook shank.

I don’t know how to fix it, per se, but I was watching a video on the history of the z-man rig (lol) and what they used to do is super glue the nose of the bait to the back of the jig head. So at least you could do that if your bait slides around after re-rigging, or even doing it ahead of time might help.

To take it further, if yo have ever seen a video pf a fish taking a worm, they inhale it very quickly not bite it, and they can exhale it very quickly if they want to. I think this is what is happening to you when you get a bite and miss the fish
Noo problem, that is just the way this lure and system woks
NO worry, just pull the plastic as stated by someone else, and be happy that you just had a bite and missed it!!!!

Hey V303. I use Slider Pro head jigs because they seem to slip through weed beds easily because of the cone shaped head. I also put a drop of superglue on the TRD so it sticks to the jig head. After I catch a fish or set the hook and miss,a lot of times the hook becomes dislodged from the TRD so I just make it needless on the hook again by placing the hook back in the TRD.
