High mountain trout

Well when you think you got it figured out, the fish will humble you. Went to Canyon Ferry lake again the other day mainly for the walleye and not even a bite from a trout. Water was 75 deg. Last time was 68. Weather been in 90s for days. I know it sounds like a whine. Lol.
Anyway, as fredfish might say, I went for a hike next day to “wash the skunk 🦨 off”.
Got almost 20 of these cutthroats in about 2 hours in a high mountain lake. They were eating dry flys with a hit almost every cast. Kept two for the pan.
And some beautiful wild flowers on the hike.

Boy Bric, those sure are beautiful. Were you campin or just a day hike?
Would have loved to have been along with you. Didn't get to make it out once trout fishin up at Tahoe this year. Hopefully will next year.

What a great day...congrats! (wish I was there, too 😉). It has been a while since I went trout fishing.

Thanks saw. Just a day hike, about 8 mi round trip. Yea Tahoe and the area around Carson pass is one of my most favorite places in the world. You will next year.

Let me know if you ever want to make the drive and vacation there. I've got a 3+ bedroom house up there and know that area pretty well.
