I've been a saltwater fisherman for most of my life and now I'm trying to learn how to catch.

Any advice for catching bluegills in VA or WVA?

I don't know about catching them in VA or in WVA but here in CA I catch em with a number 6 hook, green or red worms and a bobber.

Tight Lines 🎣

Light line, small bobber, small hook baited with a red worm, find a little brush near the edge of the water. And hook-em. then you put him on a big hook , heavy line and throw a tightline, and wait for that big shovelhead. most important , have fun and enjoy the day.

Welcome Annie, bluegills like weed edges, piers and other cover as they are hiding from other things that enjoy eating them πŸ˜‰. Other fools have covered the bait, hooks and presentation, so you should be set. They are delicious...Good luck!

Oh and because your a female , you might want a two speed international . It will make it a lot easier to reel the big ones in .
