Greetings all.
Heading to Bridgeport reservoir marina And rv , California for a week. I’ve chartered a half day with Ken Hoffman and hope to learn from him for first day there, then hitting up the local bait tackle shop too for some gear and any hints. I’ve seen some incredible trout catch pictures every week from there so very excited to catch a beauty, we hope. Big perch too, for tacos.
Does anyone know that lake or surrounding rivers etc to try and what to use? I have a fishing kayak and want to use that as much as possible, but not opposed to shore fishing either. I’ll definitely post a picture here if I’m successful, and save you a taco if you show up. Look for the guy with the biggest grin.
Thanks for all your help. Be blessed.

Ken is the best for finding the big ones. I've know him for years and he knows the lake. Ask JR or Rick at Ken's in town about other area to fish. If you can walk about 2 miles Karmen lake can be good for Brook and cuts. Ken also guides other lakes in the area. I am not a fan of the staying at the marina camp found the guy that runs it not helpful when I need help . He wanted to know how much I was going to pay him to help as my boat was sinking after launching and at the slip in his marina. hope you have a great time.

I have only fished it once but was told to troll above the underwater river bed. You will need a fish finder to follow it as the lake is too big to reliably follow it by the lake map. Good luck.

Thank you Mr. Hogleg,
I did a charter with Ken and it was awesome. My wife “was” not a fan of fishing and didn’t want to go but I talked her into it. By the second hour of pulling in 2 pound perch (10) and 3 pound brown trout (2) PLUS Ken’s great way of making sure our needs were meet and a very fun and good hearted guy, my wife made the statement “now we need a boat” I would have payed him double. Ken definitely knows this lake, and the others as well.

I went the next day on my kayak and got 1 keeper perch using night crawlers (to add to the tacos from yesterday’s left over catch) and 3 chubs (sucker fish bait?) I released. It was an awesome day.

Then went to “big Virginia Lake and got a couple 12 in rainbows (released them) and a couple big fighters but lost them due to my lack of experience (drag to tight, pulling to hard) but some tubers there gave me advice for next time. Witnessed 9 each 5 to 7Lb rainbows landed, that was awesome.

Kens tackle gave me some tips too, so shout out to them.

This place is incredible.

Thank you for serving. My daughter is currently army dog handler.
I’ve been going to big Virginia and the old timers are really helping me out. Yesterday 2 smaller 12 inch rainbows, and this morning a 5.4 on night crawler. The other half dozen 5 to 7 pounders taken by mouse tails and big balls of power bait 25 to the bottom depth of 52 feet.

Yes, ken suggested October, if you say it’s good then too, maybe I will head back, I’ll talk with wife. Would you be interested in splitting a charter with me on Ken’s boat?
