Some little storm coming up the east coast. So since I got off work a little early today I figured I would try my luck. Only one bite the first hour and I missed ( must be out of practice ). Nothing the second hour. Missed another the third hour but caught a 12" striper. Using a 10" ribbon worm in black and purple. Now the two misses were on the mepps inline spinner headless with a twister tail. Since I got them I've missed 5 fish. I just don't understand what I'm doing wrong. Maybe setting hook to soon I guess.

Rob, just chalk it up to Sh.. Happens. At least you weren't skunked.
Plumbob: Looks great. Also, does that lake have sand or white bass? Just Sayin...:RJS
Rob we call those little stripers "shakers" out here in California. Does that name apply in Maryland as well? Those are not easy to catch - little bait stealing buggers.
Huntm22
Loc: Northern Utah. - West Haven
Keep after them - maybe a little slower to set hook might do it - maybe a different hook
Spirit; In Texas there were sand bass, or white bass before stripers were introduced to places like Lake Texoma. They cross bred and now we have sand bass, mixed breed bass, and stripers! The sand bass get up to around 3 lbs. so they are a game fish too. Just Sayin...RJS

Way to hang in there Rob, I don't throw in lines much, but when I do their naked, just with the bucktailed treble. Maybe they are short striking the trailer. Anyway, its got stripes, but it ain't no skunk!!!

We call those babies rats . And yes, they are very good at grabbing a bait and running. Go through a lot of clams and bunker when they are around, with a 28 inch minimum.
Rob,
We catch summer trout and winter bass on Mepps and Panther Martins but I agree with you it seems like we miss a lot of fish. I often wonder if they are somehow bumping it rather than eating it to see if it's food.
Undersized Sturgeon are also called Shakers

Be glad you got one I fished two days straight nothing that's why they call it fishing not catching haha
Always look at the bright side. You got to spend 3 hrs of leisure out in nature and all that goes with it.
Enjoy surrounding, the companionship of a good fishing partner if you are with someone.
Fishing doesn't always result in catching, but it shouldn't prevent you from having and good time.
How big do they have to be to be legal in md.
