Hubby and I like to fish, We don’t get a lot of opportunity with him working over the road. We’re about to go on a 10 day camping/fishing trip, to use or lose his last part of vacation pay. He’s planning to show me how to clean a fish, he gets tired of doing it. And I get tired of him giving away a full days catch because he doesn’t want to clean them. Should be an eventful week and a half. 🤞🤞

Not to worry - catchin em is often way harder than cleanin em. I was born and raised in northern Indiana on the other side of the state from you, just south of South Bend. Got a few relatives who live in Fort Wayne and a SIL lives in Sturgis Michigan. And still some family around SB. Enjoy your vacation and post some pictures, we'd love to see some.

Welcome. The secret to cleaning fish is to filet them, and to do that you need a very sharp filet knife. I suggest not skimping of price and buy a quality knife at a sporting goods store or kitchen dealer store. You may already have one.

I was raise in N. Texas and late fished a lot in Texoma Lake. When my children were like 10 or so, taught trhem to fllet sand bass and they got to where they could do one a minute! So it's not hard. Just Sayin...RJS

Hello Julie & welcome to the stage! I'm a fellow Hoosier from Muncie. Still live there, but fish all over when I can. 3rd shift at Harrah's Hoosier Park doesn't lend itself to much down time. My dad taught when I was real young how to fillet a fish. He said, "If you're gonna catch and keep em, you're gonna learn to clean em." A great blade has good flex, but enough backbone so it won't break. Just like the saying goes, "How do you get to Carnegie Hall?"
Good fishing and enjoy your break!

Good morning Julie and welcome to the stage. Check out filleting fish on YouTube it's really not that hard just something to get used to. Get a electric fillet knife much easier it'll cut right through the bones

Welcome aboard Julie! With a little practice, you'll be a pro with a fillet knife.

Have a great vacation and I hope you get lots of practice cleaning fish. Nothing like eating fresh caught fish!
