Reel repair

I have a Garcia ABU-MATIC 170. It will cast but not reel in reliably because the line engagement pins don’t want to pop back out. I plan to break it down far enough to clean and grease it, but am not confident that will solve the problem. Would appreciate any pertinent comments from you experts out there.
Blessings

Greg: This may hurt your feelings, but you are a big boy now, so put away that toy and move up to adult tackle. Either get an open faced spinning reel, or a bait caster.

The Abumatic is a neat reel, I've owned one but they don't hold up, and even when working properly, sometimes don't pick up the line as they should. Just Sayin...RJS

Sometimes you gotta do the best you can with what you got. I know.

Greg, Go to reelschematic.com you might get lucky and find a schematic explosion diagram to assist you with tearing down, cleaning, lube/grease and assemble. Maybe that’ll help you.

RJS, I have a bait caster and at least four open faced reels spooled with different wt line. Those are the ones I use. The reel in question is my wife’s backup. I either need to fix it or replace it. If it’s fixable, that’s my first choice.
