Do you always have to travel that far out For a good catch of grouper and red snapper ?
The best reason to move the Florida is that the fishing season is all year long, here in New Jersey we spend as much time preparing for the season and then shutting down from the season as we do enjoying the season.
Nice catch, enjoy the meal

Yep. The water in FL is so shallow for so far. The farther you go, the deeper the water and larger the fish. And yes we're limited only by the season for some species. This snapper catch was the last day of a 30 day season

What type of reef or submerged structure we’re you fishing?

Just a rocky cavernous bottom where the grouper live. 190' down, 70 miles off shore.

Thought it was something like that. Don’t believe in Florida that they allow an oil or gas platform within 100 miles of shore except in the straight’s of Florida.

Nice fish there.
Here's a bluefin that my friend caught off of San Diego at the 43 fathom spot last week. I got my first skipjack on his boat. He doesn't like showing his face.
You probably know how far out the 43 fathom spot is.

Nice bluefin. Closer to 50#’s I’d say.

Yesterday, limits on Red Snapper and Grouper. 13 hour day, 70 miles out, 190' of water.

Interesting. Nice pics and congrats. After looking at the covid numbers just today, I'd stay as far away from Florida as possible. Stay safe.

Nice catch! You hit the last day of the season on the reds but at least they're giving more than 2 days now. Best eating fish in the ocean. I just cant justify the cost of fuel for 2 fish. It's long ride out there.

I'm thinking being 70 miles in the middle of the Sea of Cortez qualifies for social distancing.
